Extreme Earthquakes Rocked the Padang

Earthquake SR 7.69 return on the Richter Scale rocked West Sumatra September 30, 2009 at 17:16 pm. Epicenter located at a depth of 71 km is located at 0.84 LS – 99.65 BT (57 Km Southwest Pariaman – West Sumatra). The earthquake resulted in Padang and Pariaman most severe damage. Some houses, hospitals, houses of worship, school buildings and government buildings damaged. The earthquake also destroyed most of the tourist attraction in West Sumatra.

This major earthquake followed by several earthquakes with a smaller force. The average power of these aftershocks reaches 5 SR. Although the strength of aftershocks of the earthquake was not the main, but residents still panicked and ran out the building.
